Why I love what I do

Hello, I'm Carolyn the owner of Re-stitched with Love.

The idea for this business began whilst in my last year at university studying Eastern fashion and business. I started by making handmade origami hair accessories and attended local craft fairs whilst I went on to do my teaching degree. Re-stitched with Love became a hobby I loved to escape to a log cabin at my mums house after a long day lesson planning and fixing sewing machines for a couple of years.

In 2016 I was given the opportunity to teach at the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology in China and I grabbed it with both hands. This was way out of my comfort zone but I knew it was something I needed to do so I quit my job and left for a 3 month adventure and what an adventure it was! I used my spare time in the evenings whilst there to dream up new ideas for Re-stitched with Love and I made the decision that I was going to turn my hobby into a full time job. I made a simple website and worked on my social media whilst taking on orders for my return home. The rest is history as they say...

I started making beautiful keepsakes for people from their loved one's clothing, I bought an embroidery machine, took on upholstery work, altered people's clothing for special occasions from which I received heart warming feedback. I pride myself on excellent customer service and I think everyone deserves a 5 star experience. I take time with my customer's loved ones' clothing and I understand how much they mean to them. I want to create a keepsake that will last a life time for them to cherish. I continued working for myself until I was asked to return to China 10 months later for another 3 months of teaching. I couldn't say no to after such a brilliant time the previous year. My second trip to China once again gave me the confidence to dream big for Re-stitched with Love and I really appreciated the time I had as I wouldn't be where I am now without it. In 2018, shortly after returning home my fiance and I bought our first home together and it had room for my own little sewing studio. We renovated the house ourselves and I continued to work full time from my mums. On Christmas Eve that year we moved in and my sewing studio was ready for action!

Since then the business has grown from strength to strength and during lockdown 2020 I had the the opportunity to build a new studio. Two weeks into the build I found out I was pregnant so the build was perfect as we now needed the extra bedroom! Joey arrived in June 2021 and I now have a quality control officer.

Although this website is here to make it easier for people to order my products, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me about any personal touches you have for your keepsakes or to order a custom piece.
